Area Attractions

There are several restaurants on the mountain and Fred’s General Mercantile has a wide array of products from groceries to hardware to clothing.  The area surrounding Beech is dotted with small, quaint towns each with its own charm.  Year-round these towns and Beech Mountain welcome visitors with many activities such as country fairs, arts & crafts festivals, music festivals, etc.  For the adventurous visitor there are many places to go whitewater rafting, kayaking, tubing, and rock climbing.  The area also abounds with rivers for the fisherman (or woman) and horse stables for trail rides.

In the summer on Beech temperatures rarely rise above 72 degrees.  The moderate temps make it very comfortable (even without air conditioning) for visitors to enjoy spending the days enjoying the out-of-doors.  Beech Mountain has a recreation area which includes a golf course, Olympic size swimming pool, tennis courts and other recreational activities.  If the homeowner of the rental property is a member of the Beech Mountain Club (all of our owners are), their rental guests can have access to these activities.  Further information and fees for these activities are posted in each rental property.  Most of the facilities at the recreation center are limited to May through October.

During the month of October, Beech Mountain is a great place to visit for “leaf watching”.  Come and enjoy the fall colors and the fall festivals that abound in the area.

Winter brings snow and skiing to the high country.  Ski Beech offers an excellent opportunity to enjoy skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and ice-skating.  The Town of Beech Mountain provides a free sledding hill next to the Town Hall for all – young and old alike – to enjoy.  For more information on Ski Beech click on to their website at www.skibeech.com
